Depok Urges Jakarta to be Responsible for Collapsed Bridge

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok Deputy Mayor Pradi Supriatna has urged Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama to be responsible for the victims in the collapse of a pedestrian bridge in Pasar Minggu that claimed the lives of three Depok residents.


The accident happened on Saturday, killing three and injuring eight people.


According Pradi, Basuki should be responsible because the collapse of the bridge is due to improper maintenance.


"Basuki must be responsible. It's a public facility that is and poorly maintained," Pradi said in Depok on Sunday (25/9).


Pradi also said Depok City Government also urged the Jakarta administration to evaluate all the public facilities that could threaten the safety of people.


"We will also evaluate public facilities in Depok," he said.


Meanwhile, Assistant to Depok Mayor Sri Utomo said Jakarta Depok City Government had urged the Jakarta Government to take responsibility for social security and treatment of Depok residents who were killed in the accident.


"We also leave this matter to the police if it is found that there is any negligence in the maintenance and supervision of public facilities that endanger the people," he said.
