TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said that his institution would not extend the service of the Joint Fact-Finding Team (TPF) to track fund flows from drug convict Freddy Budiman to a number of high-ranking police officers.
“I think [the service of the team] should not be extended. The team was originally formed to investigate fund flows amounting to Rp90 billion (US$6.9 million) to National Police officers,” Tito said at the National Police Headquarter in South Jakarta on Friday, September 16, 2016.
According to him, no evidence indicating the fund flows after questioning witnesses from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK).
During its 30-day service, the TPF said that they did not find any evidence confirming the fund flows. However, the Police Chief revealed that the team had found another fact that a high-ranking police officer, KPS, had received Rp668 million (US$51,300) from Candra Halim, a.k.a. Akiong.
“We will follow up the finding,” Tito promised.
