TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Ministry is setting a legal framework to regulate e-commerce and over the top (OTT) companies, such as Google. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has instructed the tax directorate general to assess the draft.
"I have asked the Tax DG to assess the tax collection mechanism," said Sri Friday, September 16, 2016.
Sri also asked the team to take a look at the ongoing economic activity from those companies in Indonesia. "We should not make a regime that is not competitive," she said.
Moreover, she said that the Tax DG will continue enforcing the existing regulations. "It is clear that we have economic regulations on the taxpayers."
She added that the ministry is ready if the companies have their own arguments. "Google has its own argumentation. We are ready to discuss it," she said.
