TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Makmur Hasugian, father of Ivan, a sole suspect of a bombing attempt in Saint Joseph Church in Medan, has appointed 31 lawyers to defend his son before the court.
Makmur, an advocate, will also jump to defend his son himself. "I will step up as my son's lawyer as well," he said.
Ivan was arrested after a failed suicide bombing and committed knife attack in Medan.
One of the lawyers, Rina, said that she has not completely studied Ivan's case. "I have just received the dossier. We will (discuss) our defense," said Rina.
Rina added that Ivan's age will be one of the defense. "Ivan is not yet 18 years old. It can be included as a juvenile activity," said Rina.
