Govt Still Continues Rescue Effort: Minister Retno

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has said that the government continues the diplomatic effort in rescuing Indonesians that were kept hostage by the Abu Sayyaf militant group in South Philippines. Two months after the abduction, only 2 out of 11 have managed to escape captivity.
"We still continuing our diplomatic effort," said Retno. "I have contacted the Philippines to acquire updates on the situation."
Retno said that Sulu waters situation remains dynamic, following constant military operation by the Philippines military.
Meanwhile, Chief Security Minister, Wiranto, said that the two Indonesians that escaped captivity have returned to Indonesia. "The other will be rescued, soon," he said.
