TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Noor Rachmad, a junior prosecutor with the Attorney General's Office (AGO), confirmed that the third wave of executions would be conducted without providing details about the time and venue. Noor said that he also could not confirm the number of death row convicts to be executed.
"Everything is still being discussed. We will share the information with journalists," Noor told Tempo on Monday, July 25, 2016.
AGO spokesperson Muhammad Rum echoed Noor's comment, as saying that his institution was still preparing the executions.
"After the preparation is completed, the executions will be conducted," Rum added.
Rum revealed that several death row convicts had been transferred to the high-security Nusakambangan prison, where the executions will be conducted. Among the convicts are Merri Utami, who currently occupies an isolation cell, and Zulfikar Ali, who was transferred from the Cilacap General Hospital.
Merry was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport for carrying 1.1 kilograms of heroin on October 31, 2001. Zulfikar was found guilty for possessing 100 grams of heroin that he smuggled to Malang.
