Astra Holds Start-up Challenge Competition

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-PT Astra International is organizing Astra Start Up Challenge for young generations. The program aims at developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to become business institution that is ready to grow and compete.
“Astra wants to encourage people in supporting entrepreneurship activity since SMEs contribution toward the national economy is at around 61 percent,” Chief of Corporate Communications, Social, Responsibility & Security Astra Pongki Pamungkas said at the Gallery Indonesia WOW in Jakarta on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
Pongki advised young generations to welcome the business opportunities that has becoming easier day by day since it is supported by technology in this digital era. By the development in technology, the entrepreneurial motivation and innovation are expected to increase.
The event is supported by the Cooperative and SME Ministry. The government considers the program will encourage commitment and efforts to improve competitiveness of cooperative and SMEs in the era of ASEAN Economic Community.
“We appreciate Astra International ['s effort] which continuously supports the empowerment of cooperative and SMEs through entrepreneurship in creating a useful program for society,” said Entrepreneurship Assistant Deputy for Cooperative and SME Ministry Santoso.
