TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, said the government will not publish the names of people applying for tax amnesty. But he made sure that the government will make public announcements about the amount of funds repatriated using the tax amnesty law.
"We will provide some information, but not the people—just the numbers," the minister said here on Friday, July 1.
Darmin said the government will prepare mechanisms that would be easy for the public to follow.
Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry expects the tax pardon program to boost this year's state revenue—something gravely needed what with the recent economic slowdowns that had caused tax income and liquidity to decrease.
The government implements a set of tax pardons ranging from two, three and five percent of assets saved domestically. As for assets placed overseas, the tax pardon tariff is four, six and ten percent. There are also special tariffs for taxpayers who repatriate their assets from abroad.
