TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Handika Latitude Saputra, an Indonesian student in Turkey, was arrested by police in his home in Gaziantep, Turkey, Friday (3/6).
Dyah Lestari Asmarani, staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara confirmed the news.
"It is true that Gaziantep police have arrested an Indonesian citizen," Dyah said to Tempo on Saturday(11/6).
Dyah added that police arrested Handika on the alleged involvement in a particular organization activity in Turkey.
Nevertheless, based on the meeting of representatives of the Embassy with the prosecutor who handled the case, the Embassy obtained information that Handika denied the allegation.
"The Indonesian Embassy in Ankara has already met with the prosecutor handling the case and have received an explanation. The case is currently in the legal process," he said.
For further action, Dyah added, the Embassy is currently awaiting for permission from the Turkish authorities to directly meet with Handika.
