TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java High Prosecutor's Office located Jalan R.E Martadinata, Bandung on Sunday (5/6) was set on fire allegedly by a man with the initials DS.

Memet Rachimat, security personnel at the office, said that the fire occurred at around 12:10 pm. He added that before setting the building on fire, DS suddenly entered R. Suprapto hall located on the first floor of the building.

"He has come to the office since 9 am. We didn’t allow him to get in. However, when we were eating, he sneaked into the hall directly and set fire on the hall,” Memet said to Tempo on Sunday.

Memet added that DS was no stranger to those working at the office because DS frequently visited the office. In fact, two weeks ago, he threatened to burn down the building.

"He's been here for 7 times. He was looking for prosecutors. Once he even threatened to burn down the building," he said.

Memet went on to say that the fire quickly spread throughout the building and security personnel could not prevent the fire from spreading to the second floor of the building.

Around 30 minutes after the fire ravaged the building, fire squads arrived on the scene.

"Fortunately, no one was inside the hall,” he said.

In the meantime, DS has been arrested at Bandung Wetan sector police and the police are still investigating him.

Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police Commissioner Yusri Yunus said DS is still is still being questioned to find out the motive behind his action.
