Yogyakarta BI Prepares Rp5 Trillion for Small Banknotes

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Indonesia’s central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) of Yogyakarta Chapter has prepared Rp5 trillion the exchanges of small banknotes ahead of this year Eid Day.
Head of BI Yogyakarta Chapter Arief Budi Santoso said that the amount of money prepared this year is bigger than of the previous year.
BI’s data shows that the demand for money among the people has increased every year as the purchasing power of the people also increases.
In 2015, BI provided Rp4.6 trillion; in 2014, it prepared Rp4.1 trillion; in 2013, it prepared Rp3.3 trillion, and Rp2.9 trillion in 2012.
“For the exchange of the small banknotes below Rp20,000, BI has prepared Rp62 billion,” Arief said on Friday.
