TEMPO.CO, Bandung-President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announced today that June 1st is set as national holiday to commemorate the birth of Pancasila.
“June 1st is set as a holiday and commemorated as the birth of Pancasila,” Jokowi said at Merdeka Building in Bandung, Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
The President signed the decree on the establishment of June 1 as national holiday after delivering a speech on the commemoration of Bung Karno Speech event.
Jokowi attended the event organized by the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) along with the entire leaders of MPR, and Indonesia’s fifth president Megawati Sukarnoputri.
President Jokowi along with his entourage and the guests will walk from Merdeka Building to Banceuy Penitentiary which was built by the Dutch in 1877.
