TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) has called for the houses in the flood-stricken Sukakerti village, in Cisalak district, Subang, West Java, to be emptied.

“When it’s raining heavily, there is still a potential of flash floods,” said PVMBG Head Kasbani on Friday (27/5).

Kasbani added that the PVMBG has a team to investigate the condition of the floods and found that the flashfloods were caused by land and wood materials from the hills that blocked the rivers when it was raining heavily that night.

“The materials blocked the river and the river could not accommodate the water, causing flash floods,” Kasbani added.

Causalities in the floods that happened on Sunday (22/5) reached six people They are Parni, (50), Eni (45), Nabilah (7), Musa (55), Mae (17), and Rizal (10).

Other five people were injured. They are Amen (55), Raza (14 months), Makmur (47), and 2 others, while 388 other residents are still displaced.
