Polda Metro Jaya Building Catches Fire

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of the main buildings of the Jakarta Police (Polda Metro Jaya) complex at Sudirman Road, South Jakarta, caught fire on Friday, May 6, 2016.


Fire was seen in the Rilmad room, located in the first story of the Polda Metro Jaya human resources department building around 1 pm Jakarta time.


The fire lasted for twenty minutes before firefighters managed to extinguish it. It took one firetruck and one water-canon vehicle to put out the fire.


"Our preliminary estimate is the fire was caused by a short circuit," Polda Metro Jaya spokesman Comm. Awi Setiyono said.


The police and firefighters are still investigating the cause of fire and making an estimate of the material damages caused. There are no reports of injuries.
