Indonesian Film Wins Accolade in Global Short Film Awards

TEMPO.CO, London-An Indonesian short film titled “05:55” has made Indonesia proud after winning an accolade in Global Short Film Awards in New York last weekend.
The film made by Tiara Kristiningtyas and Mohammad Azri from Montase, a short film community in Yogyakarta, has won an award for Best Cinematography in the GSF 2016, said Acting Consul General of Consulate-General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in New York, Benny YP Siahaan as quoted by Antara news agency on Monday, May 2, 2016.
It tells the story about the moments before Yogyakarta quake in 2006 that distroyed most structures in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas and killed thousands of people.
The film that has also won awards in various film festivals in Indonesia is a silent movie with black and white visual format.
Global Short Film Awards 2016 took place at Bow Tie Chelsea Cinemas – 260 West 23rd Street, New York, attended by local movie lovers and representatives of KJRI New York as a form of support for Indonesian filmmakers. The film had received positive reviews from the attendees.
The winners of Global Short Film Awards 2016 New York from various categories will be invited to Cannes Film Festival 2016 on May 21 and will attend official awards presentation and various gala dinners.
