TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deskart Sotyo Jatmiko, head of tourism division at the Banyumas Youth, Sport, Culture and Tourism Agency in Central Java, said that the 2016 Serayu Banyumas Festival (FSB) would be held on May 21 and22, 2016.

“The festival aimed at promoting the Serayu River ecotourism will coincide with the commemoration of the World Water Day in Central Java. We hope that the Central Java Governor and Public Works and Public Housing Ministry’s official will attend the event,” Deskart said in Banyumas on Friday, April 29, 2016.

According to Deskart, the FSB 2016 will feature boat race and boat carnival along the Serayu River, staring from Sokawera Village to Gerak Serayu Dam. The boat race will be kicked off on May 21, 2016 at Gerak Serayu Dam, the boat carnival will be held on May 22, 2016.

Deskart also hopes that heads of Banyumas work units, leaders of state-owned enterprises and regional-owned enterprises, and private companies would participate in the competitions. Participants of boat carnival will be allowed to rent boats from sand miners.

“Boats must be decorated to reflect Banyumas custom, art and culture. Participants are also required to perform arts on the boat, starting from Sokawera Village to Gerak Serayu Dam,” Deskart added.
