TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Executive Director of Energy Watch Indonesia Ferdinand Hutahaean lamented the statement made by State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno that is considered to trivialize the issue of illegal Chinese workers in the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway project.
"Rini considers that the state sovereignty that is disturbed by Chinese workers is not a big deal,” Ferdinand said on Saturday (30/4).
Ferdinand added that the case of illegal Chinese workers at the project should have been the government’s concern following the arrest of several Chinese workers because they did not have official permit documents.
Ferdinand added that Rini’s response was wrong. According to him, as a minister, Rini should have protected the state’s sovereignty instead of trivializing the issue of illegal workers.
