TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A budget transparency watchdog the Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA) said that the state financial losses until 2015 due to the misuse of Bank Indonesia liquidity support (BLBI) funds reached Rp2,000 trillion. The amount, it said, is very likely to increase into Rp5,000 trillion in 2033.

The BLBI scandal came to surface again after the Chinese government arrested Samadikun Hartono, former Bank Modern president commissioner Samadikun Hartono, who is the suspect in the recent BLBI scandal.

Samadikun caused state losses of Rp169 billion (US$12.8 million).

In the meantime, the audit result conducted by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in 2000 showed that the BLBI scandals caused state losses of Rp138.442 trillion out of Rp144.536 trillion of BLBI funds that were distributed. The funds were distributed to 48 banks.
