TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Head of On Duty Administrator of Indonesian Consumers Organization (YLKI) Tulus Abadi supported the Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama's plan to revoke the ‘three in one’ system at Jakarta main roads as YLKI sees the policy is ineffective to control traffic in the capital city.

For example, the one that is applied at Jalan Sudirman-M.H. Thamrin, the system cannot solve the congestion issue at the location. "It’s still congested and the traffic jam shifts to other roads," Tulus said in a written statement on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

The three in one policy is also easily tricked by the existence of ‘jockey’. Tulus urged Ahok to implement the electronic road pricing (ERP) system which is considered to be more effective to address the traffic jam issue.

"Technically, the ERP can reduce traffic jam by 40 percent," he said before adding that the system must be implemented concurrently with the readiness of proper public transportation.

Ahok has earlier planned to remove the three in one system after South Jakarta Police discovered the exploitation of children as modus of the jockey operation in the three in one system.

Many parents whose 'professions' are jockeys usually bring their toddlers to work which then found that the children were given a sedative so they will stay calm when the parents are 'working'.

"This is wrong. There is no use of the policy," Ahok said yesterday.
