Bishop to Inaugurate Australian Consulate-General in Makassar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will inaugurate Australian Consulate-General in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.
Makassar is the third city to be visited by Bishop in her visit to Indonesia, after Bali and Jakarta.
Julie Bishop and her entourage arrived at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar at around 10.45 pm Central Indonesia Time, March 21. She is planned to meet with South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo at his office before inaugurating Australian Consulate-General at Wisma Kalla Jalan Dr. Ratulangi, Makassar.
“This is our third diplomatic post in Indonesia, recognising the breadth of our bilateral relationship. Makassar is Indonesia’s fifth largest city and a key commercial hub for Australians doing business in eastern Indonesia,” she said in a press release received by Tempo on Monday, March 21.
Besides inaugurating the Consulate-General, Bishop will also visit Makassar Municipality Museum and is scheduled to conclude her visit in Makassar by giving a speech before the academic community of Hassanudin University before heading back to Jakarta.
In Jakarta, the Australian Foreign Minister is planned to inaugurate the new building of Australian Embassy.
