TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Operational Manager of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) has urged The country's largest private lender, Bank Central Asia (BCA) to cancel its plan to charge consumers when they check their savings balance on the ATMs of the bank.
According to Tulus, charging consumers when they check savings balance is tantamount to exploiting customers because the bank makes administrative costs as a source of main income.
"This is clearly a corporate policy that is not fair and even exploitative," he said in a written statement on Sunday (6/3).
Tulus also urged the Financial Services Authority to regulate and ban the practice because if OJK allows BCA to implement the policy, OJK can be considered to have let unfair treatement of a bank to its costumers.
Tulus also feared that the move made by BCA would be followed by other banks.
"This is clearly an arrogant action of BCA,” he added.
