TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Indonesian pavilion achieved transaction of US$6.2 million in the Arab Health 2016 exhibition held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on January 25-28.

The transaction value could increase as some potential orders are in still negotiation. “Transaction value of US$6.2 million this year increased by 57.2 percent compared to US$3.9 million in 2015,” said Nus Nuzulia, director general of national export development at the Trade Ministry, on Wednesday, February 10, 2016.

According to Nus, the largest transaction is from Philippines, followed by the European Union, Australia, UAE and Iran. “The most demanded products are hospital bed, auto-disable syringe, sphygmomanometer, incubator and facemask, shoe cover and underpad,” said Nus.

Trends of Indonesian medical equipment exports to the world in the last five years have increased 6.42 percent with export value of US$273.8 million in 2014. The Gulf region and Middle East are potential and promising markets for Indonesian medical equipment.

The main export destinations of Indonesian medical equipment are Singapore, Germany, Japan, the United States, Mexico, the Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia and China.

The trade balance in 2014 between Indonesia and UAE showed surplus of US$748.8 million for Indonesia. “Indonesia’s success in the 2016 Arab Health exhibition is the result of good cooperation between the Trade Ministry and the Indonesian Association of Health Equipment Producers (ASPAKI), Indonesian Consul General in Dubai and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Dubai,” said Nus.

Around 4,000 participants from 75 countries joined the Arab Health 2016. The number increased by 6.35 percent from last year. The estimated visitors were more than 130,000 health professionals from 163 countries.
