Nine Ahmadiya Members Remain in Bangka

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yendra Budiana, spokesman of the Indonesian Ahmadiya Congregation said that 11 Ahmadiya believers have left their homes in Srimenanto sub-district, Bangka Regency. Meanwhile, Yendra added, nine members of the congregation have decided to stay in Srimenanti.
"Out of 11 people that have been transferred, two were male while the others were women and children," Yendra said on Monday, February 8, 2016. Yendra added that the transfer location has been kept secret for safety reasons.
Meanwhile, the nine other person who still remain in Srimenanti sub-district are living in the Ahmadiya Secretariat Office. "They are not free," Yendra said, adding that these people are not allowed even to return to their homes for safety reasons.
Yendra explained that he has not made any plans to respond to the eviction. Yendra said that the congregation members will stay where they are until there is an agreement between the congregation and the government.
Previously, the Ahmadiya congregation in Srimenanti sub-district was forced to leave their homes by Bangka Regent Tarmizi H. on Friday, February 5, 2016. The Regent made his decision based on a Joint Agreement signed by three ministers.
