TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Communication and Information Ministry has planned to persuade US-based incubators to develop Indonesian startup companies.
Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara said that he would send representatives to Silicon Valley, California, to develop the digital economy in Indonesia through ecosystem utilizations.
The ministry will monitor the startup companies participating in the incubation program. Rudiantara hopes that there will be 500 business owners on a yearly basis who participate in the incubation program. Therefore, Rudiantara said, the government must partner with private companies to achieve the goal.
“We’ll invite domestic and foreign partners. That is the goal of the ministry’s visit to Silicon Valley. We want them to transfer their knowledge to Indonesia and conduct the incubation programs in Indonesia,” Rudiantara told Bisnis on Thursday, February 4, 2016.
Rudiantara admitted that he had looked at several ecosystems without revealing the details. He viewed that incubations were important, so that all startup businesses could be capitalized.
