Netflix Now Available in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Las Vegas - Netflix movie streaming services is now available in most part of the world, including Indonesia. The expansion was unprecedented and is considered to be one of the steps taken by the company to fulfill its ambitions to dominate the global market by the end of 2016.


Currently, Netflix is available in 190 countries, including Turkey, Russia, and Poland. However, the company is yet to expand its services to China, home of nearly a quarter of the world's broadband internet user.


Netflix CEO Reed Hastings made the announcement on the expansion during the CES 2016 exhibition in Las Vegas on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Hastings said that the company had added more than 130 countries on its list. "Currently, you are watching the birth of a global television network," Hastings said.


For Indonesia, Netflix can be accessed through its official Indonesian website https://www.netflix.com/id/. Netflix offered several monthly subscription packages with different prices starting from Rp. 109,000 for the basic package, and Rp. 139,000 and Rp. 169,000 for its standard and premium packages, respectively.


The standard package will allow subscribers to enjoy movies and television series with an HD format while the premium package will provide HD and Ultra HD format.


Currently, Netflix Indonesia is only available in English language and subtitles. In addition to computers, subscribers can also access Netflix streaming services from their PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and SmartTV.
