TEMPO.CO, Canberra - The Australian government on Friday (18/12) appointed Dr. Helena Studdert as a new consul general in Bali.

"Dr. Studdert will begin to take office in January in 2016,” said Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop in press release from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta received by Tempo.

Studdert will replace Majell Hind, who began to take office in 2014.

According to Bishop, Australian Consulate General in Bali is one of the busiest posts in providing consular services.

"Almost one million Australians visit Bali every year,” Bishop said.

Bishop also said that the Australian Consulate General in Bali also plays an important role to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Australia in the business, development, education and education sector in Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.
