Indonesia Scores Low Inflation in November

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported inflation rate of 0.21 percent in November while the calendar year inflation rate was 2.37 percent. Core inflation stood at 0.16 percent and 4.77 percent for year-on-year core inflation. Meanwhile, year-on-year inflation stood at 4.89 percent.



“The year-on-year inflation is the lowest throughout 2015,” said BPS’ statistics, distribution and services deputy Sasmito Hadi Wibowo on Tuesday, December 1.



Year-on-year inflation is also the lowest throughout 2015. “This can open up monetary space for future anticipation,” said Sasmito.



69 out of 82 cities saw inflation in November. The highest inflation rate occurred in Merauke with 2.53 percent and the lowest inflation rate occurred in Ternate with 0.02 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang with 1.02 percent.



Nationally, prices that are regulated by the government is still the highest inflation with 5.61 percent year-on-year. The effect of fuel price has not completely gone.



Food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco recorded the highest inflation with 0.47 percent, while transportation, communications and financial services sectors recorded the lowest inflation rate with 3.47 percent due to Pertamax’s price decline.
