BNN to Conduct Massive Operations by Year-End

TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - National Narcotics Agency (BNN) head Budi Waseso said on Thursday, November 26, 2015, that he had planned to conduct huge operation by the end of this year.
“Narcotics supplies will increase by year-end, since there will be huge paties,” Budi said in Surabaya on Thursday, November 26, 2015.
Budi revealed Indonesia was a country with the largest drug network and market in Asia. Budi predicted that foreign drug dealers would target Indonesia as their market by the end of this year. He also called on public to raise their awareness against synthetic marijuana in powder form mixed with tobacco.
“It’s made of regular tobacco. But it was mixed with synthetic marijuana, making it ten times stronger,” Budi said, adding that the BNN would team up with National Police and Indonesian Military to conduct the operation.
Budi revealed that the number of drug users in Indonesia accounted for 2.18 percent of the total population of age 10-59, or about 4 million people. Meanwhile, Budi added, the number of deaths caused by substance abuse reached 12,044 per year.
