8 HMI Cadres Arrested for Carrying Weapons

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eight cadres of Islamic Student Association (HMI) were arrested for being caught carrying weapons.
Chairman of the Board of HMI, Arief Rosyid Hasa, let the police to conduct legal process to the offender. "We’ll let them go on the law process," Arief said to Tempo, Tuesday, November 24.
He admitted that he was still verifying the eight members. “There are thousands of them, so it’s so hard to find out their profiles.”
Earlier, the local police held inspection in three places; Gelanggang Remaja (Youth Sport Hall), Riau University Sport Hall, and Purna MTQ, where the HMI cadres stay in Pekanbaru, Riau. Police found various weapons like dagger and poison arrow.
Pekanbaru Head Police Aries Arief Hidayat said most of the weapons were thrown away when the inspection was being held.
Small dagger, short machete, knife, catapult, and poison arrow was found in the trash can under the window and plafond.
