TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Wahid Sutopo, director of planning and risk management at state gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), said that his company has distributed a cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) activities in Lampung.

“We have distributed [the cargo] in October. We’ll see when we distribute the next one,” Wahid said in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.

Wahid added that the company planned to distribute 4-5 cargos next year to anticipate an increasing demand.

“We’ll see the demand profile. If the LNG price development is favorable, we’ll improve it,” He added.

Wahid explained that areas targeted by the project distribution were those passed by Lampung and West Java networks. In addition, Wahid said that the focus of the project was power utilization. Therefore, Wahid suggested that other industries passed by the network could utilize the power.

In terms of price, Wahid said that it would be adjusted with the current LNG price. So far, the PGN has no plan to expand its distribution outside Lampung. However, the company has set a target to develop networks in Central Java and Sumatra.

Earlier, the FSRU project in Lampung, operated by the PGN, had allegedly caused state losses and resulted in probes against PGN board of directors. Energy Watch Indonesia executive director Ferdinand Hutahean said that the state suffered US$250 million in losses due to lack of risk management in the FSRU Lampung development.
