TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The national economic growth in the third quarter of 2015 stood at 3.64 percent, an indicator of loosening monetary pressures, Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo said in Jakarta on Friday, October 16.

According to Agus, the target of inflation rate at 4 percent will be attainable.

“[The inflation rate] might even lower than 4 percent by the end of this year,” Agus added.

The current account deficits in the first and second quarters of 2015 were lower than those in the same period of 2014. The current account deficit in the first quarter of this year stood at US$9 billion and decreased to US$4 billion in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, the current account deficit in the third quarter is expected to stand at 1.85 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, which is 3 percent lower compared to last year.

According to Agus, the favorable results reflect that the current account deficit is better-controlled this year.

“The current account deficit is expected to stand at 2 percent, which is lower than last year at 3.1 percent,” Agus said.

However, Agus added that more attention needed to be paid to the service and trade balances, since the deficit was still significant although it was lower than last year.
