TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Attorney General Prasetyo said that Indonesia has become a part of the center an international drug trafficking network. However, the executions of drug-related death row inmates have not been carried out.
"Indonesia is no longer a market; it has become the center of an international network," the Attorney General in Semarang Thursday, October 8.
This, Prasetyo said, is evident from the many foreign nationals involved in various drug-related crimes in Indonesia.
In fact, he said, 12 of the 14 death row drug convicts, some executed not too long ago, were foreign citizen.
Because the crime is being done across national borders, it is highly likely that the criminals are part of organized international groups or drug rings.
Drug circulations are a great danger to our future generations," he said.
Asked about the government's plan regarding the execution plans for the death row inmates, Prasetyo declined to reveal any detail.
"We are still concentrating on economic improvement issues," he said.
