TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) plans to visit several regions experiencing horrific haze from forest and land fire. Jokowi is first scheduled to land in Jambi.

If the weather in Jambi is bad, the President and his entourage will land in Riau at noon. “First schedule is to visit Jambi, but that depends on the weather. The weather in Riau is currently good,” Head of Riau Regional Disaster Management Agency, Edwar Sanger, told Tempo on Thursday, Oct 8.

According to Tempo’s observation, tight security can be seen in several corners of Jalan Jendral Sudirman in Pekanbaru, and also at the gates of Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport.

Several police and armed forces personnel are guarding the Disaster Management Post in Roesmin Nurjadin Airbase. Some entrances were also sterilized. Reporters without clearance from the Military Resort Command are prohibited to enter the area.

Jokowi has rescheduled working visits to Jambi, West Sumatra, and Riau for smoke disaster control from the remains of forest and land fire. The visit was scheduled for last week, but due to President`s tight schedule, the visit was rescheduled this week.
