TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the Presidential Staff Office, Teten Masduki, confirmed that President Jokowi is committed in battling corruption. He said that eradicating corruption requires powerful law enforcement, unlike the current Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"He is committed with the corruption eradication agenda. It needs a powerful KPK, the one that can monitor development," said Teten at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday October 7.

He said that in order to minimize the chance of corruption, Jokowi wants all law enforcements to play their role. "President wants a powerful KPK, police, and prosecutor," he said.

As for the draft bill of national pardon, which is currently on discussion at the House, Teten claimed that he had no idea of the draft bill. "It is not true that there is a draft bill on national pardon for corruptors. Where does that come from?" he said.

Previously, the Legislative Body has come up with the draft bill which states that pardon for corruptors is possible, given that they return the corrupted assets to the State.
