TEMPO.CO, Banyuwangi - CEO of PT Industri Gula Glenmore (IGG), Ade Prasetyo, targets the factory in Banyuwangi - East Java to start operating in August 2016. `Currently, the factory construction is 35 percent complete,` Ade told Tempo on Tuesday, Oct 6.

The targeted date of the IGG operation has been delayed. The factory should have started this year, but credits from affiliated banks including BRI, BNI, Indonesia Eximbank, Jatim Bank and a number of other banks have just disbursed.

IGG is involving the Assessment and Application of Technology Agency (BPPT) as its technical consultant, whereas Yogyakarta’s Plantation Education Institute (LPP) is its consultant in the Human Resource sector.

IGG plans to be developed as an integrated sugar factory which will produce premium white sugar. The factory is designed as a modern factory by processing waste into a useful byproduct including 6-MW electrical power, bioethanol, organic fertilizer and animal feed.

The electricity, said Ade, is produced from sugarcane solid waste processing with co-generation technology. Meanwhile, bioethanol is produced from sugarcane liquid waste processing and can be used as a mixing ingredient for fuel in vehicles.

The investment value of IGG reaches Rp 1.5 trillion with a milling capacity of 6,000 tons of sugarcane per day. The capacity can be improved to 9,000 tons of sugarcane per day. The land area for the factory measures 11,250 hectares.
