TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- The National Mandate Party (PAN) has officially joined the government coalition, as announced by PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan on Wednesday September 2.

"PAN has agreed that we will join the government. We will not only support, but also help realize government programs for the sake of this nation,” he said before the press.

Zulkifli said that the decision to join force with the government coalition is to maintain political stability, especially during global economy havoc. "PAN believes that it is time that all national stakeholders unite to prioritize this nation over political interest," he said.

President Joko Widodo welcomes the move, saying that PAN’s joining the coalition can help make a more effective governance especially in facing global challenges. "I truly appreciate the move, and I ask all parties to make the move as a momentum to bolster nationalism and unity," he said. "This is Indonesian politics."
