Cabinet Reshuffle is Too Late: Ecosoc

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Director of the Institute for Ecosoc Right, Sri Palupi said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's decision to reshuffle his cabinet in response to the economic situation and the poverty was too late.
According to Sri, almost a year after Jokowi’s cabinet was inaugurated, Jokowi’s Nine Priorities Agenda (Nawacita) has not been realized yet.
“Jokowi once promised that he would develop people-centered economy from grassroots,” Sri told Tempo on Wednesday, August 12.
Sri added economic ministers had only paid attention to country’s economy at a macro level with no improvement in the country’s competitiveness in the world.
Sri viewed that Jokowi’s administration had only highlighted the world’s economy without paying attention to people’s situation. In addition, the country’s political and human rights issues were unstable as reflected by conflicts across the country.
Therefore, Sri hopes that the reshuffle would bring changes in the country’s economy and realize the people-centered economy. Sri also said that Jokowi should have evaluated his ministers within the first six months of the terms of office.
