TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimoeljono said on Tuesday, August 4, that all tall buildings, such as apartments and flats, would be required to have a helipad and emergency staircase.
Even though no regulation has been officially issued, Basuki has begun requiring one of developers intending to build to add a helipad and emergency staircase in Sentul.
Basuki said helipad is needed to evacuate victims of fire from above the building and emergency staircase must be located at the side of the building.
According to Basuki, low-cost apartments must also have helipad. The regulation about helipad and emergency staircase is already stipulated in the old ministerial decree.
However, Basuki wants to renew the regulation so that it can be enforced as no apartments have helipad facility.
