Alor to Host Second Indonesian Adventure Festival

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The Indonesia Adventure Festival is set to be held in Alor Island, East Nusa Tenggara on starting from September 15 to 20. In addition to adventure, the secondly-held festival is ready to present the first Alor Bahari Festival.


The festival in Alor will take participants into underwater wonders of Alor, Kepa, Ternate, and Pantar islands, trekking on 840-meter high Mt Sirung for sunrise, cycling along 100- kilometer distance, photo-hunting, culture-exploration and culinary experiences in traditional villages of Takpala, Monbang, and Bampalola.


“We set up a beach party with fish grills,” said Adi Gerimu, the initiator of the event and Director of Way2East in Bandung on Saturday, July 25.


According to Adi, number of participants is limited to 200 and more than 60 have registered to date. They are coming from Jakarta, Aceh, Bandung, and Singapore. The cost to participate in the event is Rp4.5 million per person excluding airfares.


“Traveling to eastern Indonesia is expensive, but the experience worth it,” said Alor-born Adi.


Deputy Assistant for Personal Market Segment of Tourism Ministry, Raseno Aria said the department supports the festival by promoting it to the wider society.


“Target are 225 million local tourists and 10 million foreign tourists,” said Raseno in Bandung.
