TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani said on Saturday, August 1, 2015, that a Japanese company would invest in Indonesia by building basis for a baby diaper factory.

“The investment value us Rp 101 billion,” Franky said in Jakarta. He also said that the factory is have started construction in an industrial zone in West Java.

According to Franky, the move would bring a positive impact to meet the demand for baby diaper in Indonesia. So far the country has to import diapers from Thailand to fill the supply gap.

“We will save US$ 9.3 million by cutting down on exports,” Franky added.

Besides cutting exports, Franky said that enough supply of baby diapers would also boost Indonesia’s exports.

BPKM data shows that Japan is the second biggest country that invest in Indonesia after Singapore with the total investment of US$ 13,68 billion for the period between 2010 and the first semester of 2015.
