Seven Missing Lawu Climbers Found

TEMPO.CO, Karanganyar - Search team found missing climbers at Mount Lawu in good condition about 1 kilometer from the mountain summit, head of search team said Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
"They were found at an altitude of 3100 meters while resting," said Head of Semarang SAR Agus Haryono. According to him, the climbers was found around Drajat spring around 4:30pm.
Search team will take the climbers to descend through the Cemoro Sewu, Magetan, East Java track, a shorter but steeper path. It is estimated that the group will arrive in the post Cemoro Sewu at 9.00pm.
The seven climbers, five teenagers and two children, began to climb to Lawu since Saturday, July 25. They were supposed to descend to the Cemoro Kandang post on Sunday night.
When they did not show up at Tuesday night, the rescue team decided to search for them. Their parents had also reported that they lost contact with the climbers.
"Fortunately they chose to rest and not split up," said Agus. It facilitates the search process conducted by the rescue team. The search operation involved about 103 personnel.
