Ministry to Install Rumble Strips on Cipali Toll Road

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that his ministry will construct rumble strips in accident-prone areas along the Cikampek-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road, including in rest areas. The idea was proposed by the National Police.


Recently, another accident has occurred in Cipali toll road, on its kilometer 178. The accident involved a Gran Max minibus with the registration number E 1720 MF heading for Cirebon that crashed into a cement truck was parked on the road shoulder. The minibus rolled over into a ditch and was engulfed in flames. Six people died in the incident.


According to Minister Basuki, there were constructions works on kilometer 178, which is also known as drivers' fatigue point. Basuki also said that more road lighting will be installed in the near future.
