DPR Approves Gatot Nurmantyo as New Army Commander

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) finally approves General Gatot Nurmantyo as the new Indonesian Armed Forces Commander of Staff after undergoing a fit and proper test for nearly five hours since 3:30pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
"The DPR's Commission I approved the dismissal of General Moeldoko as the Indonesian Armed Forces Commander and named General Gatot Nurmantyo to replace him," said Mahfudz Siddiq, Head of Commission I on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
Gatot claimed that he was relieved to have passed the test. "Commission I really understands the armed forces’ duty. The questions were unexpected," said Gatot.
Gatot said that as the new Army Commander, he will attempt to anticipate any threat to the national stability, including cyberspace threats. Gatot also promised to improve soldiers' welfare and modernize of the primary defense weapon system
