Banks Prepare Additional Cash for Eid al-Fitr

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Banks in Indonesia are ready to anticipate the increasing demand of cash for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.


Corporate Secretary of Bank Sharia Mandiri, Dian Faqih Suzabar, said that the bank has prepared Rp 500 billion of cash in various denominations for this year's homecoming season. Bank Central Asia CEO, Jahja Setiaatmadja, also said that his bank has prepared an additional Rp 38 trillion in cash for this year's Eid al-Fitr season. Jahja claimed that the number is actually lower compared to the number in 2014, which reaches up to Rp 44 trillion.


"Last year's Rp 44 trillion was too much. Therefore we decrease the amount this year," Jahja said.


Similar to Bank Sharia Mandiri and BCA, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) had also prepared a massive amount of cash that reached Rp 27.56 trillion. Corporate Secretary of BRI, Budi Satria said that the was higher compared to last year, which was recorded at Rp 24.49 trillion.
