TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Member of the Legal Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Democrat Politician Ruhut Sitompul, said that all factions of the DPR has agreed with the new DPR building project. Ruhut claimed that factions who disagree with the project are merely trying to put on good image.
Ruhut said that all factions have understood the need to approve the project because the current DPR building is no longer capable of fulfilling their needs. Moreover, the project had been proposed since 20 years ago, when Akbar Tanjung was the incumbent DPR speaker.
"The DPR is a [reputable] government institution. Do we need to work in the alley?" said Ruhut.
Ruhut admitted that previously, there was a similar project that was filled with corruption. "Therefore, this current project must be [conducted through] an open tender," Ruhut said.
