Industry Expects Up to 30% Car Exports Increase

TEMPO.CO, Serpong – The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) is confident that this year's car export volume would increase by 20-30 percent.
Gaikindo's data shows that the number of vehicle and component exports in the first quarter had reached more than 1.2 million units, consisting 51,505 units of completely built-up (CBU) cars and 21,678 completely knocked-down (CKD).
Gaikindo secretary general Noegardjito said last year's the export figure last year was well over 4.2 million units. Despite a slowing economy over the past four years, Noergadjito said that the national auto industry remains on an uptrend.
Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel had said that the government aims to boost exports of automotive and electronic goods.
