OJK Urges Micro Financial Institutions to Have Business Permits

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) called on all micro financial institutions (LMK) that have not become legal entities to immediately obtain business permits and said that with the permits, those institutions may collect funds from the people.
Head of OJK Development Agency Hasbrur Ferida said that based on the stocktaking until 2014, as many as 19,334 micro financial institutions do not have business permits yet.
Hasbrur also said that OJK gives the deadline until 8 January 2016 for those micro financial institutions to have the permit.
This provision is for micro financial institutions to have business permit is in accordance with Law Number 1 of 2013 on micro financial institutions.
"As of now, OJK has not received proposals from micro financial institutions that want to obtain business permits,” he said in Bandung on Friday.
For the record, Hasbrur said that OJK has disseminated the information regarding the obligation to have permit in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara and it is to be followed in Bali and Maluku.
