TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of House of Representative (DPR), Winantuningtyas Tuti, said that the DPR needs to develop a new building in Senayan Parliament complex for the workspace of experts and administration staffs for each board member, because the working room in Nusantara I building can no longer accomodate board members along with their numerous staffs.

Win said that the building was initially designed to accomodate 800 people, but has nearly 5,000 people now.

According to Win, the Nusantara I building for board members is only designed for 400 members and 400 staffs. There are currently 4,357 experts and administration staffs and 560 board members accomodating the 22-story building. Each member has 5 experts and 2 personal staffs.

Win also claimed that the rooms are far from the standards set in the presidential decree, which is 117 meters. Currently the average workspace is 28-30 meters. “Imagine where the staffs will have to sit in that tiny room,” she said.

Until today, DPR has yet released an official budget for the development of the new building, with plans to also build a museum and library along with a new research center.
