TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The central government of Indonesia is planning to build country’s largest Maritime Techno Park in Buluminung, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

“It will be a research center for maritime technology in eastern Indonesia,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Indroyono Soesilo.

According to Indroyono, the government has allocated Rp3.2 trillion for the building of Maritime Techno Parks in 34 provinces across Indonesia, with the largest being the one in Buluminung. Penajam regency, Indroyono said, is ideal for the plan because it has coastal zones that faces directly with Makassar Strait. The regions also known for variety of fish products.

Meanwhile North Penajam Paser Regent, Mustaqim said he has prepared 100 hectares land for the project.

“The dock can accommodate up to 12 maritime ships,” Mustaqim assured.

Mustaqim is optimistic that the techno park will give positive impact towards the continuity of maritime technology development in North Penajam Paser Regency.
