TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Chairman of the Democratic Party Susilo "SBY" Bambang Yudhoyonowill be competing with other cadres for the party's leadership in the Democrat National Conference scheduled to be held on May.
Democrat politician Ventje, speaking on behalf of SBY, said that the formeer president will provide equal opportunities for every cadre to lead the party. However, SBY said that the candidate must secure at least 20 percent of the total votes during the congress, must be an active member for more than five years.
Ventje said that SBY, despite presenting the opportunity for other cadres, still hopes to lead the party. "SBY is still willing to lead the party for the next five years," Ventje said.
Ventje added that there is yet a candidate to challenge the prominent figure of the party.
